Linux Kernel 2.4.20-19.9 and Radeon
Ok, here is another one. I seem to have lots of problems with my Radeon card. :(
I am using Redhat 9.0 which I just recently installed. It ran its little tick program down teh bottom, and said I could update the kernel. I thought this would be a good idea. So I updated it, and now whenever it comes to booting up under the new kernel (2.4.20-19.9) the screen just flicks off (into standby mode) and I can't do anything. I can't even get into TTY1 or anything. It is very anoying. I am having to use the origional kernel. If someone could help me out, that would be great. I have a Radeon 7500 video card, a philips monitor, and a 1.1 ghz with 384 megs. And please remember in your replies, that I am a newbie, and don't hvae the foggiest how to do most things. :( Craig. |
I'm using radeon 9000 (power color) make sure u enable DRI in the kernel and not using AGP MODE 4X coz it hangs the system. Other than that, it should work pretty good!

Erm, silly question, but how do I do that?

I don't have an ATI card, but with my NVDIDIA time every time I upadte my kernel I have to reinstall my drivers. This being becuase the drivers that were installed prior to the kernel upadte were for that kernel and not the upadted one. So you most likely need to reinstall (or recompile) your ATI drivers.
