Linux invoice software again?!
 

Hi all,
This issue has been posted before in LQ, but I have not found satisfactory answers.

Does anyone know about good invoicing software?

I think web based invoicing is risky. I have not actually used web based invoicing software however, if the website goes out of business, I would be in trouble.

I am not looking for accounting software either.

What I am looking for is a simple billing program:
1. I select from a list of clients. Insert them into a billing document.
2.List my services and cost for the work performed.
3. Each invoice is auto numbered.

I looked into open office but know nothing about macros.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, I would recommmend looking at the osfinancials package, or if thats too complex, GnuCash has evolved from a simple personal finance package to a mini-accounting tool.

I followed your recommendation and looked into osfinancials.

However FYI it is a windows program.
You need wine to run the program in linux. After taking some time to read the forums, it appears that there are lots of problems getting it to work. It also appears that there are printing problems when using with wine.

Ill look into your other suggestion.

How weird. ALL the billing applications I've found for Linux are Web based applications, meaning you will need to setup a webserver and database on your PC, and install the application on it. on the bright side it will be easy to use from any other PC in your office :)

My apologies, I use Windows for accounting and trivial office stuff and Linux for everything important :)

Gnucash was however originally developed for Linux (as you may derive from the name), so it should be much easier to work with ..

Farslayer, GNUCash should be an exception to the rule, it runs as a standalone using just GTK for GUI rendering.

WebERP is another reputable package that is quite easy to work with, but it also requires both a client and a server with DB.

He asked for Invoicing/Billing software only and specifically stated he did not want accounting software, which is why I didn't mention Gnu Cash. If it's full blown double entry accounting software that is needed, then I have an entirely different list for a response to that question :)

You can try Warehouse Manage. its almost "freeware" :) Invoicing & Warehouse Management Software.
