Question Linux Installation via FTP


Guys,

How could I install REDHAT Linux 8.1 from an FTP server?

there is two image files in image folder of Redhat installation.
use them to boot and they will do the rest

8.1? is it 8 or 9? there is no 8.1 for RH. i'm asking this as the image files u need to make the boot diskettes differ for each release.

RHL 8 FTP installation

that's alright.

u need to use the bootnet.img for the ftp install. it is in the images/ direcotry of the RHL8 CD 1. u can also download it from the ftp site below.

create a boot disk using that image file. use rawrite or dd to make one.

u need to have the ftp source directory with the same structure and contents like from this site:

ftp://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/ftp.redh...s/i386/RedHat/

then follow the steps here for the installation proper:
