linux headless audio center
 

I'd like to build a linux audio center to play audio files, not video.
It would be necessary that system boots as fast as possible.

Also, no monitor needed. Ideally I'd like to control it through an android phone with bluetooth.
This is my project...

I'd like to know which would be a good distro for this porpouse. I've heard about geexbox.
Any advices will be very appreciated.

suggestions only

1) look for smaller distros as a base...tinycorelinux springs to mind

2) install the extra audio software or change it if existing is not to your liking

3) No matter which distro you choose....to make it faster....re-compile the kernel to remove all chaff using lsmod as your guide.

b) then look at what services to strip out

c) then look at what init script processes could be faster

4) then buy hardware to make it faster....ssd are fast to read etc
