After prelinking Firefox loads faster than Konqueror or Opera.

On my Debian system Firefox loads faster than it did on WinME.

Will the prelink stay active after a reboot, or does it need to be run every time?

It should stay active until your libraries and routines update... IE until you get updates for your system... In particular the parts that are pre-linked to Firefox. So yes it should survive a reboot. (Someone confirm this for me please.)

BTW: Comparing Gentoo to anything is unfair ;). There are two reasons: because it will always win and it is the slowest of all distributions to install.
