linux fedora4 with raid 1 help

New to linux here. We have a server we need to set up with a raid 1, to mirror the main drive. I thought i installed the raid ok but its not working. If i disconect the main drive the 2nd drive wont boot by its self. So im not sure what steps to take in doing a raid 1. I will reformat and install fedora 4 again so if someone can tell me the steps on how to do it when setting up fedora from scratch. I get to the part where it says to creat the partitions manualy or auto and just dont know what to do.... The 2 drives are 250 gig SATA drives. Hopefully someone can help. Ive searched and found some stuff for redhat but it was not clear and did not work.
Thanks

Firstley are you wanting to use hardware raid or software raid, if its hardware does you motherbord support it or do you have a raid card?

Make sure the two disks have the same size partitions with the same labels in the same partitions on each hard drive. The configuration is most easily done from the os enviroment. What software are you using for Raid?

NONE i was going to set up the raid when fedora installs i thought that was the best way to do it........ if you have a better idea let me know. The drives are EXACTLY the same. I just need to make sure if one drive goes bye bye that i can still boot off the other drive and when i pop a new drive in it rebuilds its self. If you know of a better way to do this please let me know and a step by step would be real good cuz im still getting used to linux commands.
