Exclamation linux doesn't show password


Hi a have a problem with my linux, when it strat and i try to login in the console:

welcome to linux 2.4.22 (tty1)
blabla login:

i put the user, but when i set enter i put again

welcome to linux 2.4.22 (tty1)
blabla login:

what can i do? help

Can you log in as any user at all? Does logging in as root work?

I can't login with any user, the only thing I can do is put the user name but it don't let me to put the password.

Try typing root as the username, see what happens then.
