Linux Compressed ROM file data ??
 
hi to all .
i have a satellite receiver that i bought couple a days ago . and it run on linux.

but the thing is . it has a locked Root password which i need to access to get the Web interface running on it.

now i have a file.img , which is a backup image of my receiver ..

can i mount it on my Linux system ?????? and check the content ???

......
when i run
$ file file.img
file.img : Linux Compressed ROM file data

Even if you manage to get the Compressed ROM filesystem mounted using something like Cromfs: Compressed ROM filesystem for Linux, what makes you think it will contain the root password in plaintext?

the thing is . that its not Cromfs image anyways ..

i was just worndering if i can mount this image or atleast access it some how that it ...

i dont have an answer to your q, but can I just ask - satellite receiver FOR what? TV?

yes its for TV ,,,

now the thing is . when i scan the ports . i could see all the open ones,,,
and some other that are not really usefull .

the hole reason behind this is to get the root password , so i could access the web interface and manage files. thats it .

i have a copy of the /etc/passwd , i dont know if that would help ..
