Linux and Asus a7v133

I'm trying to setup RH7.2 on a machine that has an Asus A7V133 motherboard. The machine is dual booted with W2k. In oreder for me to get the ATA100 to work in 2k I have to install the OS with the HD on the ide channel, then install the ATA100 drivers for Windows, shut down the machine, then put the HD on the ATA100 channel on the motherboard. After moving this to the ATA100 channel my Linux partition won't work. It says that there is no HD connected and then it kernel panics. I've tried to even reinstall the Linux partition with it on the ATA100 channel, but it still doesn't recognize the HD. Is there anyway to fix this without putting the drive back on the IDE channel??? Thanks.

ASUS

I've got the same mother board and mine works fine.

Soom things you might check:

Are you using the 80 pin ribbon cable for ATA100 drives? You should be!

Do you have the BIOS set right? Goto the BIOS section that describes your harddrives (I've got 2 ATA-100 HD's one a 36 gig and the other a 20 Gig) make sure the setting says "Auto".

-Good luck
