Stay away from Linspire. It's a major security violation to
run as root. If you're going to learn linux, as least enjoy
its better security. There are numerous post of "which
distribution". Do a search on this forum.

Linspire has you default to root, but you can add users and use those instead if you want. It doesn't force you to run as root.

True. But I heard that it doesn't work well as an user.
[Don't have evidences to back this claim.]
