Line-In Recording With Audacity

Ok...here's my problem. I'm running Audacity v1.2.3 and in the help section. It's tellin me that if I want to NOT record from my mic input that I need to select Line-In using the mixer toolbar pull-down tab thingy, device...whatever you want to call it. If you have Audacity use the Online Help and search for Line In you'll see what I'm talkin about. BUT my problem is that there is no pulldown thingamabobber in my Audacity Mixer Toolbar. Very perplexing, frustrating, and down-right mean.

If you can help I'd really appreciate it.

I don't know about Audacity's Mixer, but if you need to just select a recording device, you can run alsamixer (from a terminal) and press space on which you want to record from.
