Okay, start by posting your /etc/lilo.conf and /etc/fstab.

Do you have a /etc/grub.conf file? If so, how about installing grub instead?

When you installed RH8 did you tell it to put lilo in the Linux Partition rather than in the master boot record (MBR) ? I'm guessing you did, which is just fine by the way If this is the case the Windows boot loader doesn't know anything about Linux and you'll have to configure it. Here's some stuff on dual booting Win2K and Linux, and it will be more or less the same for WinXP

I've installed Boot Magic from PowerQuest to control my dual boot system and it works just fine. There are many other boot manager programs out there, some of which are Shareware....do a search in Google - it's where I always start

using grub in the xp mbr-
try reinstall f your linux-choose grub, not lilo.
when your install completes , edit your grub conf file-
default=0 will boot linux (if linux is first entry)
default=1 will boot windows
and here's the weird part, but it worked for me- change the name of your windows! if it says "xp", change it to "bill's finally close" or"my game box"
or whatever. this worked with a win2k/redhat, win2k/suse, and a win2k/libranet. i havent gotten around to trying it with xp.
and i do not understand why it would work.
