lilo - installation failed

Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this problem with a friends Mandrake 9.1 installation. Note that LILO does appear to be installed on the system, and the system can boot, but we have been unable to modify LILO, since we get the following error when we try to save the changes (through Mandrake control centre):

> Installation of LILO failed. The following error occured:
> lilo failed: Warning: LBA32 addressing assumed
> Warning: Int 0x13 function 8 and function 0x48 return different
> head/sector geometries for BIOS drive 0x80
> fn 08: 1024 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors
> fn 48: 33483 cylinders, 16 heads, 63 sectors
> Warning: Int 0x13 function 8 and function 0x48 return different
> head/sector geometries for BIOS drive 0x81
> fn 08: 1024 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors
> fn 48: 38869 cylinders, 16 heads, 63 sectors
> Warning: 'menu-scheme' not supported by boot loader
> Fatal: No images have been defined or default image doesn't exist.

Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the lilo.conf file to hand - I will get a copy sent to me and post it as soon as I can.

Many thanks for any help offered.

Dave.

Please send lilo.conf, real geometry (from BIOS) and your BIOS disk settings. It's hard to help without knowing it.

looks like the default image (default=linux or something like that) doesn't exist. Check he hasn't renamed it or removed it, or even mistyped the name of the new default if it was due to be changed.
But post your hard drive geometery and lilo.conf as all those warnings aren't good.
