Lilo and FreeDOS

Didn't know where else to put this.
So, I was bored and had a spare partition, so I decided to format it as FAT32 and put FreeDOS on it. When I was a kid I remember using DOS, but I never did a lot with it, and wanted to know what it was like. I got it installed, but the problem is that the only way I can use it is to put in a boot usb, type in D: and then I'm in the installation. Is there a way I can configure Lilo to boot into DOS? I am running DOS on a logical partition (sda8), and I have been told that it is impossible to boot dos from a logical partition. Is this possible nowadays?

Also: Does anyone know anything I can use DOS for? I really just installed it to install it and play around with it, it's only taking up a 5GB partition, are there any useful things I can do with it?

I dual booted DOS and Linux for several years. DOS will only boot from the first primary partition. I used DOS to run a DOS application I wrote for about 15 minutes a week. I never bothered to convert the DOS application to Linux.
