libstdc++.so.6 cannot open shared object

I am having oracle enterprise linux 6.6(64 bit) installed and I am trying to install oracle directory server and I have an issue.

I tried "dsccsetup ads-create" command and I got the below message -

Code:
dsccsetup: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6 cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So I did "yum install libstdc*" and I got all the 64 bit packages, but still got the same error.

I read in one of the forums to update the .bash_profile - update LD_LIBRARY_PATH to use /usr/lib to usr/lib64,

Code:
but then I got this error - wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
Am I missing something, any pointers appreciated.

Thanks for the response.

When you say I need to unset LD_LIBRARY_PATH, do I need to remove it from .bash_profile, if so would that not break others? - or do you mean to unset it for installation and then set it back to /usr/lib.

Thanks.

Remove it, you should not normally override it
