libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 ?????

Ive just installed ubuntu linux and I quite like it, except so many programs wont install because they say they need libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2, what is this package? And how do I go about installing it?

Also what are some good repositories for me to add to my etc/apt/sources ?

Cheers

I'm using Ubuntu and was coming across the same problem.
http://packages.debian.org/stable/base/
it's in the list here.

If you go into synaptic and to Preferences and to Sources and tick all the deb boxes (skip the src unless you plan on recompiling etc)
and then click on Refresh on the main synaptic toolbar.

hmm thanks, thats helped me sort out installing opera without any problems, but im trying to set up vnc, and its still complaining about this package... Care to give me a walkthrough on setting up vncserver on ubuntu, I didnt have any of these problems with fedora although I didnt like it nearly as much as ubuntu, this disro is excellent imo.

Turns out this package isnt installed. How on earth do you install it? Synaptic refuses to install it, If I download the .deb file how can I install it?
