LibreOffice Writer 5-Page view problem

I have installed Linux Mint 18 MATE on 2 laptops and a desktop.

On one laptop the LibreOffice Writer 5 pages are displayed as per the 2 attached photos.

When I open a document with Writer, all I can see is the grey background. There is no sign of page 1.

Page 1 is offset to the right for some unknown reason.

On a two page document, scrolling down then shows page 2.

This particular problem also occurred recently with Linux Mint 17.3 MATE on the same laptop (Lenovo G780). It had previously behaved perfectly.

Any suggestions please?

I'm certain this is an intentional behavior by the authors of LibreOffice - I saw the first page "displacement" in versions of LibreOffice in both Windows and Linux going back to at least version 3.5 in about 2011 in my test virtual machines. There may be a way to change this behavior though.

wagscat123,

Thanks for your reply.

Why is it doing it on just one of my 3 machines?

The other 2 are fine.

There must be a setting somewhere or other in Writer to remedy this.

EDIT

Your use of the word displacement encouraged me to try Google again and I found this:

https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/quest...of-the-screen/

This is how to fix the displacement problem:

View > Zoom > Zoom > View Layout > Single Page (not Columns) > OK.

File >Save.

View > Zoom > Page Width (or whatever setting you require).

File > Save.

I have no idea how the Single Page setting got changed to Columns because I have never touched it.

Thanks once again for pointing me in the right direction.

Interesting configuration option lurking in there. Glad you found what you needed.
