libjpeg already installed... i try to uninstall... not installed... thiscompismessing

I installed libjpeg as a requirement for MPlayer (I know it's optional, but i want it in), so I installed it, but I tried to uninstall it and it says that it isn't installed. I thought gee, it isn't installed.. instresting.. i guess ill install it now.. so i try to do that and I get the "error" that it is already installed. wtf?

here is what i did (for the sake of neatness, when it says preparing and has all the ## i deleted a few lines of that out)

Code:
[root@localhost InstallFiles]# rpm -ivh libjpeg-6b-26.i386.rpm
Preparing...                                  #
(1##
(1###########################
(1[root@localhost InstallFiles]# rpm -ivh libjpeg-6b-26.i386.rpm
Preparing... (1########################################### [100%]
        package libjpeg-6b-26 is already installed
[root@localhost InstallFiles]# rpm -e libjpeg-6b-26.i386.rpm
error: package libjpeg-6b-26.i386.rpm is not installed

Drop the .rpm

rpm -e libjpeg-6b-26.i386

# See rpms installed on current system
rpmquery --all | more
rpmquery --all > <filename>
rpmquery --all | grep -i <plaintext>
