libdvdcss decrypts some DVD's but not others
Hi.
I'm running SuSE 9.2 Pro and have installed the latest version of xine from sourceforge. I have installed libdvdcss-1.2.9 to allow playback of DVD's. I find that for 90% of my DVD's this works fine, but I have a handfull of films that still refuse to play. I get the dialog box that tells me that the source is encrypted and that I need to install libdvdcss. This does not appear to be a region setting, as most of my Region2 DVD's play, but some don't. I have tried all 8 region settings in the xine configuration, but with no luck. If anybody has solved a similar problem, I would be very grateful to hear what they did... Mike. |
I cannot really help you with xine, but that is because I only use mplayer. I have yet to find a DVD that it cannot play.

Thanks.
That has solved the problem with a couple of them, but I still have some that I can't play. I get even less out of these than I do with xine! Xine will play the titles, then complain when I triy to play the film. MPlayer does not even get this far. It simply turns the video window black for a few seconds as it reads the DVD, then goes back to it's initial launch state. Mike. |
