Hi.

I'm suffering from a wide array of symptoms:
-- my desktop background image won't display, and the 'choose wallpaper' dialog hangs (it shows a window 'outline', filled with white).
-- the File Browser (and nautilus --browser, which I presume are the same) do nothing (ie. hang before showing a window).
-- gedit (among others) hang when showing file-browsing dialogs (open/save/extract, etc.)

-- (I assume this is) unrelated: vlc segfaults when given a filename on the command line, but can open (and afterwards play) files through the dialog box perfectly fine.

I'm guessing that [lib]nautilus is having some kind of problem. Does anyone have any experiences with this? All help is appreciated.

nautilus version: 2.8.2-2

kernel 2.6.8 solved the problem. Case closed
