Ld_library_path

while compiling wine on my machine I was told I need to add the line

'usr/local/lib' to /etc/ld.so.conf and run /sbin/ldconfig export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/lib

I don't think I did it right. I assumed the ' at either end were not to be typed and I added the / before usr so it looks like

/usr/local/lib

in my ld.so.conf

When I run /sbin/ldconfig export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/lib

I getan errormessage Couldn't find the program 'ldconfig'

Any ideas or help
Thanks

ou should either run, if you edited /etc/ld.so.conf
/sbin/ldconfig
or
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/lib
if you want one time change it will disappear upon exiting the shell, if you want it to be permanent you need to put export statement into global profile - usually in /etc/profile.
All commands needs to be run by root
