launch script for thunderbird?

i sometimes get the infamous 'select profile' when i try to run thunderbird. is there a script or something to prevent that? please write the extract commands to type and how to make it executable and stuff since i don't know anything about scripts. thanks.

You'd actually just have to write a script to kill the process that most likely is still running, or didn't get closed properly. You really wouldn't need to write a script for something like this, just if it happens, find the PID number and just kill it off with maybe a kill -HUP <PID>

But then, you probably only want that if the browser isn't
running iconised or on a different desktop. Basically that
Profile thing just comes up to prevent you from hogging
memory. If you have the browser already running it would
make sense to create a new tab (Ctrl + t) or new Windows
(Ctrl + N) rather than clobbering it and restarting it.
