Launch menu contents flushed when updating

I've had Mandrake 9.2 installed for about 12 hours now and just ran the online update function for the first time. I was quite surprised when after all the package updates were complete, almost everything in my Launch menu had DISAPPEARED !!

No terminals, develop, games, office, config... Not only is all that stuff gone, but I can't even open the home directory icon from the desktop !!

Anybody heard of this happening before?

Right click on the "K" start menu button and choose "Menu Editor" from the popup menu and once the program fires up tick on the "Save" button. That should restore your start menu.

I tried right clicking on the K and selecting Menu Editor - nothing happens.

The entire contents of the menu are:

recent docs
logout/lock

On the desktop:

Home and trash don't work.

Welcome and scanner work.

R clicking K lets me select items in the Panel Menu, but it will not open configure panel

Any ideas?

Try this. Hit Ctrl-Alt-F1; that will take you to a text mode terminal with a login prompt. Login with you username and password. At the command prompt run:

$ update-menus -v

To get back to your gui, hit Alt-F7 and see if the menus are restored.
