Arrow LaTeX editor

hello,

I am currently using Kile (KTexMaker) as a LaTeX editor in fluxbox. Does anyone know a latex editor (not wysiwyg!) like Kile that doesn't use the K libraries. I don't care what's in it as long as it is easy to compile tex files and quickly view the postscripts, also automatic coloring of the tags and tabbed-windows (to work at multiple files) would be nice.
I know I could make my tex files with vim but I do prefer a gui ...

thank you!

Another front end editor for LaTeX is Lyx that shows you immediately what are you writing in a screen half and the LaTeX code in the other half.

However I use Kile.

WYSIWYG = WhatYouSeeIsWhatYouGet

I don't want a wysiwyg editor, like LyX
I'm working in a plain text-editor now (gedit), but tag coloring sucks
maybe I should use vim :-)

cheers!

There is a set of plugins for Vim called the [ur=http://vim-latex.sourceforge.net/]LaTeX-suite[/url] that provides pretty much all the features you could ask for.

kile latex and more

hello

I came from staroffice to lyx then kile...and gedit.

I know texcenter for windows is working fine. maybe with a bit of wine in linux it could run?

I have a question for you, kile user, when I compile to pdf files I dont get T1 fonts, so screen viewing in acroread is not good. (even if I mention T1 it in the preamble) any idea?

thanks

pdf files I dont get T1 fonts

Try to use dvipdfm and not dvipdf.

You could also use pstopdf or ps2pdf after create the configuration file
~/.dvipsrc
with the contents

p +psfonts.cmz
p +psfonts.amz

Kile seems to be the thing to go for . Lyx always crashes with a Mutex failure although its an apt-get install and makes all weird code. I hacked my whole PhD in notepad (only had Win - SPlus), so Kile is cool, for the papers now.

OMG with kile my life could have been so much easier . Well at least I learned low level stuff.

I see that someone uses Kile in Fluxbox.
Which are the libraries that I need to install Kile in Fluxbox?

I use LyX and I wouldnt call it wysiwyg by any means. You don't see the raw code but it's certainly not a print like view.

Finally I installed kile and kate in Fluxbox, but there is a problem:

The first time after the boot they work fine. If I close the application (kile or kate) and try to open again, it doesn't work any more! Any idea?
