Last step with BlackBox
 

have just installed Blackbox with this command:

rpm -ivh ftp://ftp.muni.cz/pub/linux/freshrpm...0-fr4.i386.rpm

shall i configure something ? i wont start when i run "startx" ??

At the command line type:

echo exec blackbox > ~/.xinitrc

yeah i think so. I would like to do everything on CLi - I think i learn much more that way.

Btw... do you know how i configure things like ICQ (how do i get i work) with BB an other features.

Programs will run in BB just like they do in KDE (only faster), you can run them from the CLI or you can create your own menus so you just click on what you want to run. Do a "man blackbox" and read up on editing the BB menu. I have all the apps I use all the time on the top level so all I have to do is right-click on the screen and click the app I want to open.

What about a shoutcut to swich between my workspaces. Are there one build in or can i make one ?

At the bottom of the screen there is a bar with arrows on it. The arrows on the left cycle through workspaces and the arrows on the right cycle through windows. You can also get bbpager which places a pager at the bottom of the screen.

alt-(1,2,3,4) will switch between the first 4 desktops i.e. alt-1 goes to first, alt-2 goes to second, etc.

It won't. Blackbox has no key grabs by default. I believe Mishkinman was referring to fluxbox. You've to use a third part key grabber as bbkeys...

and for easy configuring, I would recommend bbconf, a package with wich you can configure the menu, the layout and the key bindings with a grafical interface :)
