laptop irport as tv remote


is this possible to use an irda equiped linux laptop as a tv remote? where can i find such a program?

My suggestion is to try google.

I've heard of something like that tho...so you might luck out.

bump... i know there is software that exists that lets you use a remote for you computer, but can anyone point me to software that allows you to use your laptop as a remote?

lirc works with most laptop IR ports (need to be able to run in SIO mode, check the BIOS setup)

i can't compile it
i always get:
