Laplink like program for Linux?

I would like to know if there are any programs out there I can use with Linux to transfer files from a Windows ME machine to a machine running OpenLinux eDesktop 2.4. Thanks to all who responded promptly to my previous posts.

use samba

Is Samba graphical or command line driven? How can I check if it's installed? I would also like instructions on how to use it.

samba can allow you to mount windows shares on a hard drive like windows network mapping. Are your computers networked?

Yes, but I still need to get my network card working in Linux before that will matter.

What network card are you using?

the laplink program you are looking for is called PLIP

you will need a cable and support for PLIP and it will connect through the printer port
