LAMP Relevancy :: What's New?

Does LAMP: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Perl, Python, PHP; still hold its ground in the realm of web servers?

Are there new tools? Programming languages, scripting languages... server`client side, front`back end...? Databases? That are doing things that have you moving in new directions?

I have seen some shift over to PostgreSQL away from MySQL. The NoSQL database servers are getting some attention. Quite a few web servers use lighttpd instead of Apache. Various other languages are used from Java (server side), to Pike, to Ruby, and many more (even still some C). And there is BSD (and I've heard there might be another).

Database could be any DB eg Oracle if you've got the need & the cash.
LAMP was just a convenient acronym, concentrated on F/OSS toolset. See also WAMP, XAMP etc.

Personally I'm most partial to LAPP (Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL, PHP).

Now I am working on filling my database.
