lame > incomplete mp3 encoding.
 

I have noticed that whenever I use lame, either directly or through a plug-in from some app like k3b, to decode or encode a long mp3 file (+10 minutes) I miss part of the end of the file, the last few seconds.

This is very annoying as I have a number of audio files in mp3 I'd like to burn to audio cd. Is something wrong with my version of lame (version 3.96.1) or is this a known problem?

The only sollution I've found so far is to open the file with audacity and save it in a different format from there. In that case there is no loss at the end of the file.

You could always try toolame :)

Exactly, but audacity doesn't lose the end of the file whereas re-encoding directly with lame does !?!
Maybe it's in the way lame implements its own library and audacity implements it differently. I don't know, but it sure is annoying: audacity need an awful lot of space to do the job.
