Angry LAME faster under windows?!

why?!

i compiled LAME with
Code:
--enable-nasm
and
Code:
--enable-expopt=full
and it's near 10% slower than on windows98se (i did a benchmark some time ago and forgot the exact numbers, but, hell, it *is* unacceptably slower).

my box is p2@266, 192mb ram.

any tips for more optimization?

(ps: windows version was the binary from mitiok.)

Are you sure you're not running any unnecessary processes.

Open up a console or terminal (unless you're already at one) and type: ps aux|less.

This should give you an idea of what maybe hogging you're system resources.

I suppose a complete Linux box (with X and all these feature) still more heavy than a single Win9x Computer... but less than any Win Nt
