Kylix3 fails to run/F9 on Mandrake 10.0

I've got a problem with Kylix 3 and Mandrake 10.0. Kylix is installed fine - at least the IDE opens up - but when I run (F9) a project the whole thing stalls. There's no program running and the IDE is frozen. the only way to get out is to kill the process. There's no error message that I can see. The problme happens with the most basic program - from the usual 'Hello world' to just pressing F9 with the default form.

Kylix was installed as root, and I'm running it as me.

Kylix has some issues running on the latest distro versions. There is a fix but I do not know if it work or if it is distro dependent. I do not remember the exactly where I found the patch but here you go.
