KVM ubuntu, no /dev/kvm

OS is Ubuntu 10
A "uname -a" shows

Quote:
Linux hero 2.6.28-18-server #60-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 12 05:11:07 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I have 4 KVMs on a system two will semi start two won't. When I run "virsh" and enter the command "start fortytwo" where "fortytwo" is the name of the VM I get

Quote:
virsh # start fortytwo
error: Failed to start domain fortytwo
error: internal error unable to start guest: open /dev/kvm: No such file or directory
Could not initialize KVM, will disable KVM support
It is correct there is no /dev/kvm.
How do I create the device /dev/kvm?
Running the command "modprobe kvm-intel" didn't work.

BTW, these used to work, so I'm guessing the /dev/kmv got killed somehow. I did reboot the system it didn't come back.

Problem somewhat fixed. I got my /dev/kvm back. Apparently when I rebooted the system eariler, it only did a partial reboot, go figure. I normally work with Redhat not Ubuntu. This time I shutdown the system and powered off. When I powered the system back on and it rebooted, /etc/init.d/kvm did its thing and created /dev/kvm. My VMs still don't start properly but I'm one step closer.
