I'm running Mepis linux. I've downloaded the source for ksmoothdock and I believe I've successfully completed the process of:
./configured - make - make install
When I go to run the program by typing 'ksmoothdock' into my terminal window I get this error:
root@2[ksmoothdock-3.5.1]# ksmoothdock
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
That did the trick. Thanks for you help. I researched it a little further and it turns out the xserver won't allow any other user, even root, to connect to itself.
