kppp effects mouse usage

I am using a KUbuntu related distro called Ichthux. When I attempt to connect to the Internet using kppp, the mouse pointer begins to jerk. This is a USB mouse with cable. I have not been able to reproduce this problem by loading down with other programs, and only the mouse seems to be effected.

This occurs the moment I click on "Connect" with kppp. I am having no problems with the modem or carrier to the best of my knowledge.

If more info is required please ask.

Thank you.

this is just the display server getting shut out of scheduling to update the cursor or coming to the end of ram.
there are lots of different choices for scheduling agorithms in the kernel. kernel preemption you can turn on and junk.different types and frequencies of ticks the whole nine yards.
you could also lower the niceness of xorg and or use setpci to increase he vidoe card latency.

I think I understand what you are telling me to do, but I am not sure about "niceness" of xorg. I have googled it I will follow the instructions I find in the results.

I short thank you for your help. If I find out that this does not help I will post back.

Again Thanks

sorry about the lack of instructions
when i said "lower niceness" that means have xorg be less nice in terms of yeilding to other apps.
something like (as root)
renice -2 -p `ps -C Xorg -o pid=`
or -3

and the latency on the video i think can only be set in non ExpressPCI video cards like in a AGP slot
anyway run as root
lspci -v
and see what the latency setting is for the video card
if it's 0 then post results of lspci and i will give you the command to increase it
or try to increase it anyway.
