Unhappy kppp and modem connection Mandriva LE

Hello!

I have installed Mandriva LE 2005 in my computer and I can't connect to internet.
I use a modem, which is very well detected by the Mandriva, but then it fails to connect. I can connect to internet with different Live CD's only by giving the system the telephone number, the username and the password. But it seems not to be enough with Mandriva. I use kppp and my modem is a U.S. Robotics at 56k.

Anybody knows how could I get this fine Mandriva to internet??

Thank you very much in advance!!

Maybe you need to load the module for the modem. I think the command is: modprobe slamr (as root)
