KPilot sync causes duplicated appointments

I'm running KPilot 4.9.4-3510 under OpenSuSE 11.1 and KDE 3.5.10. I'm syncing with a Palm Zire 71. I'm using KOrganizer for my datebook.

It seems that every time I do a HotSync, I get an extra copy of all my appointments, both in the computer and on the Zire. For appointments in the past, I've accumulated over 10 copies this way! What might be causing this, and how can I stop it?
