kpilot conflict resolution issues

hadn't checked out the korganizer suite in a few years, and i'm digging it for the most part; big improvements. but the syncing of my palm is killing me. aside from being just generally buggy (just getting it to sync means hitting sync on palm, then opening up kpilot setup and pointing to /dev/ttywhatever, then ok. when done syncing, i need to disconnect and do it over. otherwise everything hangs. but i digress.), my biggest problem (i think) now is that the conflict resolution box is empty. it pops up on nearly every sync, no matter what i set the parameter to (do nothing, ask user, duplicate, etc), but the box is empty. it says there's a conflict, there's an ok and cancel button, but there is nothing printed within the dialog box. can't figure it out, and i don't see anything in the log that mentions it. i hit ok, and syncing continues, but i'm wondering if this is what's messing up my calender/task entries. any suggestions?
kubuntu, 2.6.15-27, palm tx, kpilot 4.6.0, qt 3.3.6, kde 3.5.2.
thanks!
