Kopete in Ubuntu Hoary

Ok, I know you're probably getting a little sick of reading threads about Kopete. I know that the question of whether or not MSN has changed the protocol has been answered. The problem is, and I've searched the forum and can't find an answer, I'm using Ubuntu Hoary on my laptop, and am somewhat unsure of how to go about updating Kopete on that OS. Can anyone here help me with that?

Also, while I'm at it, I have an 802.11b wireless adapter built into my laptop. I'm using a U.S. Robotics Wireless Access Point & Router, and I've secured it with password protection. Now, in Microshaft, this wouldn't be a problem. When I attempt to connect, it asks me for a password, and it connects. In Linux however, I can't figure out how to do this. I would assume I use KWifi Manager, but can't seem to find the feature in there to do so. It will scan for available networks, but I can't figure out how to log in to the one it finds without disabling the password protection on the WAP, which I don't really want to do.

Thanks to all who reply.
