Kopete file transfer/firewall issue
In Kopete I cannot receive files from others, it stays @ 0%. I suspect this could be a firewall/SELinux issue (but I'm not sure since I've only recently got started using Linux (FC3)). Can I change the firewall settings somewhere or deactivate it completely? Or perhaps the problem lies somehwere else? Thanks.

Hi, did you try to allow ports used by kopete?
I have similar problem but I can send files neither. I'm using MSN and ICQ protocols. I don't think it's firewall issue, I even tried to shut fw down but no change. |
You can check if you have any iptables firewall setup by typing 'iptables -L' in
the shell. If you get any kind of rules listed the you are running a firewall for sure. You can always reset it by typing 'iptables --flush' which will remove all iptables rules. The filetransfer in kopete never worked 100% right for me. It works well most of the time, even though I am behind NAT/Firewall, but it is not perfect. I am a KDE fan however I must admit that GAIM's MSN support is much better than that of kopete. And many times when the file transer failed in kopete, running the same File transfer with the same buddy seemed to work in GAIM. Hope this helps. |
