Thumbs down kopete & msn => "password wrong" while it definitely isn't... why??

i don't use msn very often since skype has become common. but due to everybody writing tasks now, most nightly brainstorming is done in msn and people forced me to gain another microsoft-passport since i lost my old password.

the problem is: the password was saved! one day, it simply said "wrong password" and i didn't find the right one, even though i am pretty sure i used one of my standard-passwords for something like msn. now i have a new account, everything worked well until i wanted to go online: "wrong password". this time i am 100% sure it isn't wrong!! so what might be kopetes problem?

regards

try with gaim .. it works perfectly ..

If, with gaim, you could connect, look for the msn address in gaim and check your kopete setup.

i have had a lot of trouble installing different programs and would like to try solving this problem first. if there is a solution... found my problem described here: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105929 but so far i cannot see what is recommended to fix it.
is gaim the same as kopete or bound to msn?

That problem occurred because Microsoft changed something with the MSN protocol. To fix it you update Kopete

Gaim is the same of kopete ..
Gaim can connect you to MSN, YAHOO, ICQ and others at the same time executing the application once ..

Multiple connection (MSN+ICQ for example) at the same time while is running only one copy of the program

it's always their fault, i knew it! where would you recommend me to update from? do i need to remove kopete as it is now from my computer or will a newer version just override the older one - and add my contacts automatically?

that's possible with kopete, too! but thanks for your answer, i'll have a look at gaim if kopete turns out not to be an option... won't protocol-changes in msn affect gaim, too?

Its a kopete bug... i've been use kopete and jabber with facebook until one day its says "wrong password" i thought its a bug and write my password and was ok unil the next day and the next and the next and now i can't connect at all... its allways says "wrong password"
i believe is not only my problem:
http://www.kde-forum.org/artikel/169...-is-wrong.html
here some bug:http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kopete...il/015295.html
but i don't have any special simblols in my password... my passwolrd is a two simple words woth no space between them.
there is alternative for jabber like "qutIM" but i like the chat window stile
