I just downloaded Kopete. I ended up deleteing it. From my system, it went to my trash. Now , I'm unable to delete the files from my trash, it tells me I have no permission to change or delete these files. I have even logged on as root , and tried . Still, cant delete the files. It says the file owner is 1000. Still new to linux. Can anyone help?

Try logging in as root and chaging the owner and group names to you then delete them.

chwon me my_files
chgrp me my_files
rm -f my_files
