hi, i recently downloaded kopete(latest)
after i installed it, it said it can't lookup msn server when i asked it to connect to msn messenger..... is there a way to fix this? thx
Kopete is development software, the release you have may be buggy. If you can use IRC try asking in #kde-users on freenode. Otherwise, can you use MSN on that machine on Windows? It may be something to do with your internet connection on Linux. Does everything else seem to work ok?
yeah, everything is just ok, surf net no problems.... the msn messenger at my windows works perfectly...... just feeling it will be great if i also can use msn messenger in linux, coz all my buddies use that......
I can't think what could be causing that, except a bug in kopete then. Try talking to them on IRC. Do you know how to do that? Alternatively try a different chat app. Gaim is OK, you could try a Jabber client as well. There are several public jabber servers with good msn transports, that'll let you on (as well as getting you an account on a cool chat network). See jabber.org
The cvs version of kopete has a working msn plugin, there is also Kmess and KMerlin (both stand alone msn clients) and Pebrot (a text based console client).
