Konueror not logging into websites
 

When I use Konqerer for web browsing it will not log into websites which require passwords. I enter the user name and password as usual, but it will not accept it. I can log into these sites just fine using Mozilla or Galeon. Has anyone had this problem or know what to do about it?

settings -> configure konqueror

I have exactly the same problem. have tried to to enable cookies but am told that

This control module could not start the cookie server process.
It will not be possible to manage received cookies

clicking ok shows the cookie configuration where cookies are enabled, accept from originating server checked, auto accept session cookies checked and Accept cookie by default selected.

what is the cookie server? why is it stopped? what has caused it to stop (konqueror has been working fine for months until 2 days ago)?

I found this solution by accident: starting the KDE daemon (kded) makes konqueror start accepting cookies and the configuration module works well too.
