Konsole ignores .bash_profile, why?

I know that to get ls to output with colour you have to type:
ls --color=auto
However, I want it to automatically do this for me, so I make it an alias.
alias ls='ls --color=auto'

The only problem is, I have to do this each and every time I open Konsole, for Konsole seems to ignore my .bash_profile
How can I get Konsole to read my .bash_profile and my aliases?

Try adding the line to your ~/.bashrc file instead (/etc/bash.bashrc for global settings).
