Konquorer only starts for root and su users
I am setting up Mandrake 10.1 for my sister. I was currently trying to get a CF card reader to work when I discovered that Konquorer does not start when I log in as normal user.
When I click "home" t taskbar says "starting home" and then it goes away after a few seconds but nothing else happens. I also can not start Konquorer from command line with out logging in as SU. Root login acts normal. I also installed Firefox and set file associations in Konquorer to use Firefox first as the main browser before working on the CF card reader. I can not think of anythng else that could have FUBR Konquorer. Changes in fstab should not effect it... Right? Any guesses or definitive answers? |
usually trying to start a program from a konsole will give you some errors if not succesful.. Any of those? I guess youd have mentioned em if they were helpful.. One possible thing that comes to mind is a faulty java plugin.. that has sometimes perved up my browsers.. Other than that, well then its a lib prob of some sort.. But the startup rrors would realy help moving on from the guessing.. (:

This problem has already been noted and fixed by Mandrake. Update your Mandrake 10.1 by running the Mandrake Control Center. You'll get a 300+ MB download to fix all this.

I see this question and problem a lot on other forums, too! I don't know if Mandrake now put the most recent updates into their downloadable CD ISO's, but I hope they did because this little error for Mandrake could turn away a lot of potential users. |
