Konqueror open new tab instead of a new instance

Does anyone know how to make Konqueror open a new tab if there is an instance already running. Currently if I click a link in KnewsTicker while I already have a browser open it launches a new browser window instead just adding a tab to my existing instance.

There is an option for that in the settings, the functionality is not perfect though.
