Smile Konqueror is faster than Firefox

I'm using Suse 10.1, I found that Konqueror is much faster than Firefox to browse the web, why?

konqueror has less options, and less plugins.
it's simply a smaller application.

you will notice, that konqueror is mainly used for filesystem browsing, as firefox is used for webbrowsing.

just look at the size of the applications, it would all make sense

It could be something to do with the rendering engine. Konqueror uses the same rendering engine as Safari (Safari is based on khtml which was developed for Konqueror by the KDE guys). I also find Firefox to be a bit slower than Konqueror and Opera

I experience the opposite; i.e. Firefox 2.0 is much faster than Konqueror on my pc and Konqueror doesn't display all aspects of some web pages whereas Firefox always does. I'd like to use Konqueror so I'm interested in finding out if it is a matter of 'settings' or I'm just out of luck.

One Firefox bug which can make it REALLY REALLY SLOW is that by default it does something stupid with IPv6. I don't understand the exact nature of the bug, but basically when you go to a new domain name it takes forever trying to look up the domain name (as well as any domain names for any ads within the web page).

In order to fix this bug, do these steps:

1) Enter "about:config" in Firefox's address field.

2) Enter "ipv6" in the search field.

3) Right click on "disable IPv6 name resolution", and "toggle" it from false to true.

4) Enjoy a fast Firefox!
