Question Konqueror and Square Brackets in Folder/File Names

I am running KDE 3.4 on Fedora Core 4 distribution. When I try to access a folder that has square brackets ( i.e. "[" and "]" ) in its name, it will not enter the folder. Also, if I attempt to open
a file that has brackets in its name ( using file association ), it will not open. If I remove the brackets from folder or file names, then the problem goes away.

Also, accessing the same folders or file via the command line ( BASH )works fine as well.

However, I get a large number of files with brackets in their names, and there are some cases where I cannot change the name for standards purposes.

Is there a fix for this issue?

Regards,

That's odd behavior. I'm running Konqueror 3.4.0 in SuSE 9.3 Pro. I just created a folder with square brackets around part of the name. Then I copied a couple of files into it. I was able to enter it and see the files in Konqueror without any problems.

Either your installation of Konqueror is corrupt, or FC4 made some alteration that disables that functionality.

I've searched through the Konqueror configs from the Settings menu, and don't find anything there that would affect your ability to enter folders with square brackets in the name.

Ok. Maybe it isnt' the brackets, I always remove spaces from the name, also. Next time I will just remove the brackets and see if the problem still exists. More to come...
