Know Anything About Linux TV/DVR?

Hi,

Are there any applications available for viewing and recording TV on a Linux machine? If so, what are the hottest? What are the system requirements? What TV Tuner cards are most likely to appear on hardware compatibility lists?

Thanks.

tvtime to watch tv.
mencoder and streamer to record tv.
kradio to listen to fm radio (if your card has radio).

bttv tuner cards are well supported, and so does the saa7* (or something like that).

anyway, if you choose the bttv, i can help a little...
good luck!

Popular Science did a great piece on how to make a linux dvr, the article is on the web and can be found here. There isn't that much in terms of technical aspects but they provide enough, most of the article is history of the this linux dvr program, still interesting read though.

Thanks for all of the responses. I believe I have enough to get started. Didn't realize, for example, that tvtime was included in my distribution. Thanks for the insight.
