Knewsticker/Konqueror not playing nicely

I am running Knewsticker on SuSe 9.1 pro and KDE 3.3. i use Konqueror to open the pages aggregated.

Something happened recently to Knewticker's functionality. I've encountered these problems:

1. Clicking on print links in the page opened using Konqueror produces error messages. Typical of the error messages that appear are the following:

"An error occurred while loading file:/2102-1041_3-5571555.html?tag=st.util.print:
The file or folder /2102-1041_3-5571555.html does not exist."

"An error occurred while loading file:/news/story/mail/1,2292,66565,00.html:
The file or folder /news/story/mail/1,2292,66565,00.html does not exist."

I can print off the unformatted screen if I want to, however.

2. Clicking on links for "email this page" frequently do not work. Nothing at all happens.

3. Clicking on links to page 2 will produce an error message like that quoted about.

4. Some pages also do not render properly. Slashdot, for example, renders on the screen in html format.

Konqueror seems to be working fine for general web browsing, independent of Knewsticker. The problems noted above do not exist.

I've tried using Firefox with Knewsticker, and encounter the same problems. I've also tried to uninstall and reinstall Knewsticker. That accomplished nothing.

This is definitely not good when I have to reply to my own posting. But here is a more specific explanation of the behavior I'm observing.

When I open a file on Knewsticker, Konqueror seems to be downloading the page to a var/temp/ file. The location bar shows a file path, instead of a URL identification. So, I gather that I'm not opening the website on the server for the source article. The latter is what I think Knewsticker is supposed to do.

What would account for that.
